We are joining forces with Smart Works this June, a charity that exists to help marginalised women break the cycle of rejection and deprivation that results from unemployment.

From 1st – 30th June, we will be adding £1 to our bills for those guests who want to contribute towards raising funds for our chosen charity of the month, Smart Works.

At the heart of Smart Works sits a dressing and coaching service designed to help their clients be the best version of themselves at a crucial moment in their lives.

The women who visit Smart Works are referred from Job Centres, mental health charities, women’s refuges, homeless shelters, the prison service, care service and youth organisations.

Each client receives a bespoke dressing consultation with two trained volunteers, to find a beautiful and high-quality interview outfit that will fill her with confidence. This is free of charge and the clothes are hers to keep.

The Smart Works service is transformational. After their appointment, 95% feel more confident about succeeding in their next interview, 97% feel more confident in their new outfit and 93% are more aware of their strengths and skills. The team are proud that 62% get a job.

The team at Smart Works have two clear measures of success: the number of women helped and the proportion that secure employment within a month of their visit. Since 2013, they have helped 20,000 women from eight centres and their success rate has never dropped below 55%.
